In 1939, Rudolph was born in Chicago, Illinois. Some years later after completing a gig for Montgomery Ward’s department store, he obtained employment with Santa, Inc. at the North Pole. Despite the new heights he achieved at Santa, Inc., his love for Chicago and its pizza lead him back to the Windy City. Summertime from 1950-1976 was spent in the northern suburb of Skokie, Illinois at what became known as his “summer home”. The home belonged to his friend and mentor, Robert L. May and his family. It was there that he recharged his batteries during the warm months in preparation for the winter’s work ahead.
